WURTLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Someone broke into a Greenup County church after Sunday services, prompting a search by Kentucky State Police for the person responsible.
The Rev. Trevor Lyon said a thief broke into Wurtland Church of God through a window of a children's classroom.
It happened late Sunday night or early Monday morning at the church along Ky. 503.
Church leaders say the thief only got away with petty cash kept in the church office.
"We have a lot of technology and other equipment that could very easily be stolen, but we're very fortunate that it wasn't, and we're shocked that that is the only thing they stole," Lyon said.
If you have any information about the church break-in, you are asked to call Kentucky State Police.
